My December 2013 Beauty Favorites!

Mehron: Celebre HD Foundation in Dark 2 (DK2)

Picked this up when Camera Ready Cosmetics was having their Black Friday sale. Beauty youtuber Megha8359 mentioned in one of her videos that she uses this for contouring. Since she’s one of the few beauty youtubers who has a skintone similar to mine I decided to give it a try. I’ve had this product in the past which I picked up at IMATS NY several years ago and I loved it while it lasted, but I only used it as foundation (in shade Medium 4). The idea of using a cream product for contouring was something I never tried before and definitely wanted to. So far I’m loving it and the shade I got is perfect for my skin right now. I only got the sample size from CRC but will pick up the full size when I’m finished with it.

Marc Jacobs Beauty: Magic Marc’er Precision Pen in Blacquer

I cringe everytime I think of the $30 price tag on this baby and it’s hard to believe I made this purchase. I actually purchased this by accident from Sephora when I really meant to buy the Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer that beauty bloggers like MakeupByTiffanyD and others raved about. To my surprise, I really loved this eyeliner compared to other felt tip liners that I have tried, disliked, and later returned (Stila, Eyeko, Kat Von D, Jordana). However if there is anything that works as well and is any cheaper please do let me know!

Cinema Secrets: Moisture Spray

A great dupe and cheaper replacement to cult favorite MAC Fix+. Never tried this before or heard of anyone talking about it in the beauty ccommunity but I saw it during Camera Ready Cosmetics Black Friday Sale (are we seeing a pattern here?) and decided to give it a go. Works great to spray on the face when using my Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer to thin it out and make it easier to blend on the foundation using a BeautyBlender.

Kari Gran: Lavender Hydrating Tonic

Heard of this product from Joyus.com because their videos totally suck me in. It’s a much better deal to purchase this from Joyus because you get a complementary 50 ml bottle (I used Luvocracy during their Black Friday sale so I wouldn’t have to pay for shipping). There’s something about facial mists that I just can’t get enough of. I love the smell of lavender so I knew I would love this. I use it right after showering/washing my face and right before I put on moisturizer. The glass bottle makes it not exactly travel friendly so I’m hesitant to carry it around in my purse. Purchase here so we can all get some credits on Luvocracy!

Toppik: Hair Building Fibers in Dark Brown

Unfortunately we all can’t have naturally big voluminous hair (whomp). I sprinkle a little of this in my scalp after it has been styled to make it look like my hair is thicker. I got this idea while I was getting my hair and makeup done when I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding a couple months ago. The hair/makeup artist used a some dark eyeshadow to cover up my scalp so my updo looked fuller. I found this one day while perusing through my local beauty supply store (Beauty Plus Salon). In doing my research on this product I was surprised to see they sell it at Sephora but it’s cheaper on Amazon. So far it’s been working great!

What were your beauty favorites for the month of December?

Nouveau Cheap’s Cheapie Awards 2013

One of my favorite beauty bloggers — Nouveau Cheap, just posted her Cheapie Awards 2013.

What I agree on:

  • Best new chubby lip pencil — Revlon colorburst matte balm (I only own the shade Shameless but I love it and can’t wait to get more shades!)
  • Best new liquid lipstick — Maybelline color elixirs
  • Best new eyeshadow — Jordana 12 HR Made To Last Eyeshadow Pencils (I wouldn’t say these are my favorite eyeshadows but I do love the shades I own so far.)
  • Best new eyeshadow primer — Wet n Wild Fergie Take On The Day Eyeshadow Primer
  • NYC In a New York Minute Nail Polish in Grand Central Station used at top coat
  • Desert Essence Jojoba Oil (Great for removing makeup and as a nighttime moisturizer. I’ve tried Josie Maran’s Argan Oil and other oils such as grapeseed oil or almond oil but none really agree with my skin as much as jojoba oil. Any brand will do not just Desert Essence!)

What I want to try now!!
